A hearing notice is given to each defendant whose case is set on the docket. Minors (16 years old and under) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Fine Payment Information
Fines may be paid in full in lieu of court appearance for all individuals over the age of 16. Payments may be made at the court in the form of cash, money order, credit card, or a check drawn on a local bank (unless issuance of bad check has been filed for individual).
Payments can be made 5 days after the ticket has been issued in order to allow adequate time for the ticket to be processed. For individuals requesting payment plans or a defensive driving course, you must appear either in person or in writing within the prescribed time noted on your ticket.
Jurisdiction
The City of Cuero is one of limited jurisdiction. It has the authority to hear cases involving (but not limited to):
- Traffic Violations - Includes moving and nonmoving violations, commercial vehicle violations, failure to maintain financial responsibility, no driver's license, etc.
- Class C Misdemeanors - Carry fines with a maximum fine $500 and includes public intoxication, theft (less than $50), disorderly conduct, minors in possession of alcohol and tobacco, possession of drug paraphernalia, etc.
- Violations of City Ordinance - Includes violations of juvenile curfew, environmental violations, health and safety violations associated with food service establishments, permit violations, dangerous buildings, junked vehicle violations, and animal violations, etc.
